The purpose of this article is to comparatively examine Tayeb Salih’s Season Migration the North (1966) and Nella Larsen’s Quicksand (1928), emphasizing how concept hybridity depicted in terms its three intercultural transitional phases: “Adopt,” “Adapt,” “Adept”. provides a new perspective for reading both works, as we argue that novelists highlight different phases by exposing phases’ trajectories, which reflects strive retrieving their Afro-national affiliation consequential move from state embracing colonizer’s culture into own. paper adopts postcolonial theoretical framework borrowing Peter Barry’s conceptualization adapt, adopt, adept. authors find major characters novels lend themselves directly cross-cultural analysis because fluidity complexity identities gaining through ongoing transmissions they undergo throughout narratives. This research significant it contributes establishing comparative context use. helpful readers scholars better understand under discussion may inspire further concerning applicability other literary cultural discourses.
